Tyler Nez earns Gold medal at AZ SkillsUSA competition

Tyler Nez, from Holbrook , received a Gold medal in the Carpentry competition at the Arizona SkillsUSA competition, March 29 and 30 at the Phoenix Convention Center.

40 NPC/NAVIT students competed in 14 events, with 14 students earning one or more medals in nine of those events. Gold medal winners earned an opportunity to participate in the 52nd annual National Leadership and Skills Conference, June 20-24, 2016, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Three students brought home a second medal - Bronze Quiz Bowl.

Nez was representing Northland Pioneer College in the state-wide event. NAVIT students competed in the secondary division; while NPC students were in the post-secondary division.
