Stefany Matkin Helps With Winslow Health Screenings

2014 Aug 28

On August 20 and 21, 2014, Northland Pioneer College second-year nursing student Stefany Matkin from Show Low, AZ along with 19 other NPC nursing students, helped Winslow High School nursing staff by volunteering time and nursing experience. At the beginning of every school year the high school's RN, who oversees several schools in the area, was in need of assistance as she was tasked with mandated screenings of all high school freshmen. The nursing students rotated in assisting four different stations including height and weight, near vision screening, far vision screening and hearing screening. With the help of the NPC students, the screenings of the high school freshmen were completed within 2 days. Everyone benefited, the high school nursing staff got some much needed help, the freshman got through the health exam more quickly and the NPC Nursing students got some great experience.
