NPC Cosmetology & Welding students participate in Food Drives

2015 Jan 21

Coleman Hart, a student at Northland Pioneer College (NPC), participated in two NPC Cosmetology/Welding food drives at the NPC St. Johns Center. What started as a food drive has turned into a friendly yearly competition between the two programs to see who can collect the most food donations. Students in both NPC programs take pride that the food donations go to local food banks to help others in the Springerville/Eagar and St. Johns area.

Frank Pinnell, Welding instructor at the NPC St. Johns center explains how his students enjoy the challenge by saying, "The students have a good time with the food drive just because it's a fun competition, but you can tell that they also enjoy it because they recognize that their efforts are really going to be making a difference for those who really need it."

The food drives occurred at the end of 2014 and in January 2015 to help those in need during the holiday season and the beginning of the year. After both food drives, over $6000 worth of food was donated to local food banks.
