Calvin Stepp competes at Region 4 SkillsUSA event

Calvin Stepp, representing NAVIT Show Low , competed in the Secondary Welding event at the Region 4 SkillsUSA competition at Northland Pioneer College on Friday, January 29, 2016.

Stepp, from Taylor, was competing for a chance to demonstrate their knowledge and skills at the statewide 2016 SkillsUSA competition on March 29 and 30, 2016, at the Phoenix Convention Center. The top three medalists in each category automatically advance to the state event.

In addition, Northland Pioneer College awarded $500 tuition scholarships to the top finisher in the secondary division.

NPC served as the primary host for the regionals. Snowflake High School hosted the Cabinetmaking and Television Production events. The Construction Technology (Carpentry, Electrical & Masonry), Mechatronics/Robotics, Job Demonstration, Job Interview, and Welding competitions were at the NPC Skills Center on the Holbrook - Painted Desert Campus. The Automotive competition was at NPC's training facility in Show Low. The Fire Science competition was conducted at the Northeast Arizona Training Center (Jake Flake Emergency Services Institute), in Taylor. The Cosmetology event was conducted on Monday, January 25, at the NPC Show Low - White Mountain Campus.
